Biographie von Prof. Dr. Dong Jiangtao

Dong Jiangtao
is a doctor and professor of TCM & acupuncture from the First Hospital of Guangxi College of TCM (Nanning, Guangxi province, China). He graduated from the Guangxi College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Nanning, Guangxi province, China) in 1984, where he studied traditional Chinese medicine as well as western medicine for 5 years (full-time), and obtained his medical degree. In 1989, he finished the post-graduated course of Acupuncture Advanced Training Program in the Institute of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Beijing, China).

Prof. Dr. Dong has been engaged in the clinical practice, teaching and research in acupuncture and TCM in the Acupuncture Department of Acupuncture, First Hospital of Guangxi College of TCM and Guangxi College of TCM since 1984. He specializes in TCM (acupuncture / herb / Tui Na). He has plenty of clinical experience in the treatment of with acupuncture, acupressure, herbs and Tui Na for various chronic diseases and painful disorders, such as arthritis, back pain, sciatica, headache, paralysis, vertigo, insomnia, anxiety, depression, diabetes, hypertension, chronic gastric and intestinal diseases, gynecological problems and so on.

Prof. Dr. Dong is currently a member of the China Association of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, China Acupoints Research Council, China Red Cross Society, Guangxi Association of Mental Hygiene and American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). He was one of the national academic successors to the famous Chinese medical experts appointed by the China Ministry of Health and National Administration Bureau of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1997. He has been one of the main teachers in international education of acupuncture & TCM at the Guangxi College of TCM.

Prof. Dr. Dong’s research aspects include the macrocosmic holistic medical model of TCM, herbal channel-tropism theoretical system (on its establishment and development), acupuncture analgesia for postoperative pain of anal disease, phenomenon of fainting during acupuncture, acupuncture clinical education of overseas students, effect of moxibustion on the improvement of cerebral blood flow (collaboration), foot-reflexotherapy application in sport injury, acupuncture efficacy in the psycho-emotional complications of chronic disease and acupuncture treatment for knee osteoarthritis, headache, gallbladder colic, male sexual dysfunction etc. He published lots of articles such as Acupuncture for Myxedema Due to Secondary Hypothyroidism .
